The vast majority of us that have websites tend to put most of our focus on getting new traffic. Although I'm not going to downplay the importance of getting new traffic to your website, it should never be done at the expense of the existing traffic that you already have. As a matter of fact, it is easier to build your numbers with existing traffic than to continually get new traffic to your website that needs to start from scratch. Here are some ways for you to have the best of both worlds and to really increase your website traffic very quickly.
One of the first things that you should do whenever you have an existing website is to establish a way for you to be able to contact your existing visitors again. Typically, this is done through an email newsletter and there are a number of different services that are available online which help to make this rather easy. Some of them even give you the opportunity to set up an autoresponder system, which can automatically contact these individuals once they are subscribed. Other ways that you may want to look into contacting your existing visitors is through social media networks, such as twitter and Facebook.
There is a rule that states that 80% of your profit is going to come from 20% of your visitors. If you're able to determine what that 20% is, you would be surprised with exactly
how profitable your business can be. I'm going to give you a little hint, the website traffic that makes up the 20% are individuals who are already trusting you in some way or another. Whenever you spend all of your time pulling new traffic into your website, you're really contending with individuals that do not yet know you or trust you. Although you can certainly establish this trust through a number of different methods, it is much easier for you to continue to get traffic from somebody that already trusts you implicitly.
Existing traffic is also an excellent way for you to be able to sell new items. Niche traffic is one of the best ways for you to make money online and it helps if you focus your niche and as small of an area as possible. When you do this, you are taking the opportunity to find a group of people who are interested in what you have to offer. Whenever you have a way of contacting these individuals again, you simply invite them to come back whenever you have something new to offer. This doesn't always need to be a sale, but whatever you do sell something, it works well.
Of course, I'm not telling you to stop looking for avenues of gaining new traffic as this is an important part of any online business. What I am suggesting to you, however, is that you don't ignore any existing traffic that you have and get the most out of it in the process. When you are able to do this effectively, your bottom line will grow quickly.
