If you are reading this article there is a good chance that you are one of the thousands of beginners marketing from home or at least considering the idea. With the proliferation of the Internet and the tough economic times ahead we will most likely see even more joining our ranks.
Since this is all new to you and thousands like you I thought it might be good to give you a few tips for beginners marketing at home. Just like you I am new to this experience but have learned from a few bumps along the way and I would like to pass them on to you.
1. Never stop learning. By this I mean you will have to continue to invest in yourself. Education is important in any profession and if you are one of the serious beginners marketing from home I would highly recommend that you join an online school, preferably one that teaches the ins and outs of affiliate marketing. The money you spend will be well worth the time you save. Most online marketing schools have an inside house affiliate program and you can start your online learning by promoting the actual school to others. I belong to three of these courses and my memberships are completely covered by my commissions with a little left over.
2. Set a schedule. You will need to set aside some time each week to devote to your new venture. This is were most beginners marketing from home fail. You need to be concentrate of two areas. Learning and implementing. Most spend all their time learning and never take any action. No matter how smart you get doing this well earn you no bank! A good plan is to set aside a small block of time each day during the week, even if it is only an hour and stick to it. Five hours a week can go a long ways to advancing your skills and earning money online.
3. Use the free or low cost methods to promote your offers first. Many beginners marketing from home read an article or an ebook on Google Adwords or some other expensive form of advertising and think they are an instant expert. It just doesn't work that way. A basic feel or should I say a accurate understand of the mechanics behind Internet marketing is a must before diving into such techniques. You will be learning as you implement and if you are using the free or more affectionately called, Bum marketing methods, mistakes will not cost you money and believe me you will make some.
4. There is a learning curve. All beginners marketing from home including myself need to realize this. There are peaks and valleys. You will have times of elation such as learning a new skill and being able to implement it for the first time, or making your first sale. How about your first $100 day. These are all exciting times but there is also the lows. Making a mistake that costs you some time. A dry stretch without a sale. Article rejection (that is a big one), especially after waiting a week to get approved. Not getting the desired results for your efforts. You need to press on and keep at it through all of the good and bad times.
5. Keep things simple. Many beginners marketing will spread them selves to thin. Trying to juggle to many campaigns or projects at a time. It is best to concentrate on one or maybe two only and to keep improving them until they are working well and you are earning some money for your efforts. I have seen many with half a dozen websites on completely different subjects and all of them suffering because of it. This is not only unprofitable but also depressing. Stay focused and keep it simple.
6. This should be called tip five and a half because it goes along with the above. Beginners marketing will often start building landing pages, blogs, hubpages, lenses and an multitude of other platforms to get their offers out there. These are all good and well and eventually will be needed but they are not necessary at first. Stick to direct linking with your campaigns. Take advantage of the high converting sales pages your merchant has spent thousands of dollars on. Send 100% of your traffic from your free techniques to that sales page by registering a domain and having it forwarded to your affiliate link. No hosting to pay for , no website or landing page to build, and no time wasted and you will be making some bank while you learn skills need for future ventures.
Anyone with the desire and tenacity to succeed can make some extra money and even a full time income online if they stick to it. It is not easy but if it was everybody would be doing it wouldn't they. Most beginners marketing at home quit just before they succeed, if they would have only stuck it out a little longer they would have reached the top of the learning curve and things would have started becoming easier. Don't let that happen to you!
